How to Sign "Help" in ASL

Category: Everyday
Handshape: A-hand on flat hand

Step-by-step

  1. Hold your non-dominant hand flat, palm up.
  2. Make an A handshape (fist with thumb up) with your dominant hand and rest it on the flat palm.
  3. Lift both hands up together once.

Deaf-culture tip

The direction shows who is helping whom: move it toward you for 'help me', away for 'I help you'.
